Beautiful Acrylic Paintings by Mia Araujo

I recently discovered the work of Mia Araujo. Her acrylic paintings are inspired from fairy tales and vintage photography. She seems to be particularly interested with 1920′s which is relevant to my interests. Find more of her paintings and sketches on flickr.

Art stunts by Stuntkid

Keeping in line with the Post-it theme from the last Art Watch post, I thought I’d share some work of another artist I draw plenty of inspiration from, Jason Levesque aka Stuntkid. Levesque’s illustrations pull heavily from his reference photography of alternative models. However these photos have become just as successful and polished as his illustration work. Unfortunately Levesque has found photography to be taking time away from his true love of illustration, so we might not see anymore of his photography in the future. Let’s hope this is only temporary!

UPDATE: I forgot to link his site where you can find more of his work, prints, and all that good stuff. He is on many different networks, so instead of listing them all I just googled it for you. Your welcome.

The fantastically macabre Post-it drawings of John Kenn

I love looking at other artists for inspiration. One such artist is John Kenn. Kenn’s illustrations are drawn on Post-it notes in a style similar to Edward Gorey’s work, and often feature surreal monsters as well as eerily beautiful landscapes. I love the character design almost as much as I love how he can create a mysterious and foggy world with only pen strokes on office supplies. View more of his work at the Don Kenn Gallery.
